W dzisiejszych szalonych czasach, w dobie kryzysów i szalejących pandemii, dobrze jest czuć, iż świat muzyki swobodnie improwizowanej jest jeden!
Na majowe spotkanie w lizbońskim studiu nagraniowym Namouche, lat temu dwa, wiolonczelista Fred Lonberg-Holm przybył z dalekiego Chicago, a perkusista Stale Liavik Solberg z równie odleglej Norwegii. Najbliżej do portugalskiej świątyni dźwięku miał gitarzysta Luis Lopes, dla którego Lizbona jest matką i najlepszą kochanką.
Zagrali muzykę jedyną w swoim rodzaju. Muzykę, która swój początek bierze w strumieniu gitarowych sprzężeń, mocnego prądu na gryfie wiolonczeli i drummerskich talerzy, które krzyczą w niebogłosy. Swój koniec zaś osadza w niemal medytacyjnym rozszarpywaniu dźwięków, dewastowaniu nieistniejących harmonii i narracyjnego ładu, które mają w sobie coś z buntowniczych nastrojów awangardowego rocka spod znaku Velvet Underground i dramaturgicznego rozchełstania swobodnie improwizowanego post-jazzu, którego korzeni szukać można w trakcie wszystkich szalonych dekad ostatnich pięćdziesięciu lat.
Amerykanin, Norweg i Portugalczyk grywali ze sobą w różnych konfiguracjach personalnych. W takim wszakże trio definitywnie debiutują. Piękny to początek!

In today's crazy times, in the age of crises and raging pandemics, it is good to feel that the world of freely improvised music is one!
For the May meeting at the Namouche recording studio in Lisbon, two years ago, cellist Fred Lonberg-Holm came from distant Chicago, and drummer Stale Liavik Solberg from just as distant Norway. The guitarist Luis Lopes, for whom Lisbon is the mother and best lover, was closest to the Portuguese temple of sound.
They played one of a kind music. Music that originates in the stream of guitar feedback, strong current on the cello neck and drumming cymbals that scream into the heavens. It places its end in the almost meditative tearing down of sounds, the devastation of non-existent harmonies and narrative order, which have something of the rebellious moods of avant-garde rock under the sign of Velvet Underground and the dramatic distraction of freely improvised post-jazz, whose roots could be found during all the crazy recent decades of last fifty years.
The American, Norwegian and Portuguese played with each other in different personal configurations. After all, in such a trio they definitely make their debut. It's a beautiful start!
