about

Liner Notes:

Blisko godzinna, free jazzowa erupcja emocji wprost z serc i umysłów brytyjskiego saksofonisty Toma Chanta, szwedzkiego kontrabasisty Johannesa Nästesjö, urodzonego na Minorce pianisty Marco Mezquidy i katalońskiego perkusisty Ramona Pratsa.

------

The quest for the factor that determines the quality of free improvisation is something which has occupied the human species for 50 years. Research findings are ambiguous. It appears, however, that the key to success is excellent communication within the group of improvising musicians.

Here we find a quartet of musicians still young, still seeking, who embody a case in point. Some time ago, they began to gather regularly, playing every Thursday at Barcelona club Robadors 23 from 19:30. When finally they entered the recording studio, there was no doubt about what the band name, and indeed the album title, should be.

The tenth album in the Multikulti Project and Spontaneous Music Tribune Series was bound to be anything but ordinary. Nearly an hour of free jazz eruption, straight from the hearts and minds of British saxophonist Tom Chant, Swedish double bassist Johannes Nästesjö, pianist Marco Mezquida from Menorca and Catalan drummer Ramon Prats, ensues.

It is a product of the ability to listen, the capacity to react quickly, putting the good of the whole before the interests of the individual. Democracy and collectivism - whatever these words would signify in public life - represent, here, within Robadors Quartet, the only true and inalienable values.
