about

Liner notes (English)

I removed one of the headphones, listened and smiled. Wow! But no. I thought that a choir of cicadas belonging to Washington D.C.'s viscous summer had sneaked into my earphones. Here, when the humidity weaves a dense spider's web so as to slow up the bustle of the city, the cicadas intone a hypnotic drone which makes it go to sleep. It's a pleasant, almost drunken dozing off, only this time it was Axel Dörner's sound box, in which he stores insects that he catches, and lulls the trio just as efficiently as the cicadas of D.C.

I was walking next to the little river which runs through the city's huge Rock Creek Park and this anecdote got me thinking. Isn't this the music of Earth? When you hear it for the first time it can sound strange, but it's been lying buried under the rubble of urban noise for a very long time. Nature is precisely this, in its purest, freest, wildest form.

Wind transforms landscapes, fells trees, and polishes the roughness of naked rock using the same force with which this trio transforms sound, and gives it form, then deforms it and caresses it. They flow the way water does, gliding, evaporating, discharging itself and and flowing once again.

It is also the music of a hidden beast lurking within this Amazon rainforest of ringing sounds and percussive whipping that twist about like the branches of the trees; it is the echo of a ceremony marked by tribal percussions which we find as disconcerting as they are attractive; it is the reverberating depth of a huge piano that shifts the subsoil; it's a cry of freedom from way up there; it's day and night, comforting and disturbing; it is an autumn of ripeness which is reborn with the new sap of an improvised spring.

Liner notes (polish):

Zdjąłem jedną słuchawkę i uśmiechałem się nasłuchując. Niesamowite!

Wiatr zmienia krajobraz, przewraca drzewa, wygładza szorstkość nagich skał z taką samą siłą, z jaką trio zmienia dźwięk, nadaje mu formę, następnie deformuje i pieści. Płynie jak woda, przemyka, paruje, spowalnia, by znowu płynąć.
